With many events showcasing numerous artists, there are plenty of chances to hear some new music this week in Bloomington.
Wednesday
The Orbit Room will host the Cosmic Songwriter’s Showcase. Open to all ages, the event will start at 7 p.m. with tickets costing $5.67 and a required food or drink purchase. Cosmic Songwriter is an Indiana non-profit aiming to create a community focused on songwriting in Bloomington. The show will be an all-woman showcase featuring Cara Jean Wahlers, Claire Pendreigh, Liv LaFluv and Kathy Yuhl.
The Blue Man Group will perform at the IU Auditorium. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. and ticket prices range from $50 to $104 depending on seating at the auditorium with cheaper student tickets available. The ensemble blends music, comedy and audience interaction to create a unique performance. The group also utilizes multiple unique percussion instruments throughout their performance.
Thursday
The Blue Man Group will return to the IU auditorium for a second day of performance. This show will also begin at 7:30 p.m. with tickets costing between $50 and $104, with student tickets available for a cheaper price.
Friday
IU student band Opal will play at The Bluebird. The band, which mainly plays classic rock covers, will go on at 9 p.m. and tickets for the show at the 21-and-up venue will cost $12.43.
Saturday
The Orbit Room will have live music for all ages starting at 6 p.m. Tickets for the show will cost $11.33 with a required food or drink purchase. The lineup of musicians for the night will feature Simon Moore, Ben Cartha Fowler, Dave Jablonski and Luke Hummel.
