Due to impending weather, Indiana baseball’s opening series against No. 11 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will feature a doubleheader Saturday. Friday’s game will still be played as scheduled.
With a high temperature of 47 degrees but heavy rain forecasted on Sunday in the Chapel Hill, North Carolina, area, both ballclubs agreed to push the originally scheduled Sunday game forward by a day. The first game Saturday will start at noon. The second contest will start an hour after the conclusion of the first game.
Senior right-handed pitcher Jackson Bergman, who transferred to Indiana last summer after three years at the University of Toledo, will start Saturday’s game for the Hoosiers. The other starter Saturday has yet to be announced.
Last year, the Tar Heels went 46-15 and won the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship before being eliminated in the Chapel Hill Super Regional by the University of Arizona. This year, North Carolina brings back one of the best pitching staffs in college baseball complimented with a promising lineup.
