A third victim died Wednesday following a Jan. 18 house fire, the result of a suspected arson, on East Anderson Road in Bloomington, according to a Friday press release from Monroe County Coroner Jeff Hall.
Paula Anderson, 53, died due to injuries sustained during the fire, Hall wrote. She was the mother of Kristine Rowan, 33, who died in the fire along with 74-year-old Mary Blake.
WTHR reported Anderson was a certified nursing assistant taking care of Rowan, who had cerebral palsy, and Blake. Anderson and her daughter Gabby escaped the fire and were transported to Indianapolis hospital for their injuries.
The fire was reported around 2:40 a.m. Jan. 18, according to a press release that day from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. After arriving, police found a car that had crashed into an attached garage, which was on fire.
First responders were able to locate a suspect in their investigation of arson about an hour after arriving at the house.
A GoFundMe for the victims has since raised over $28,000.
An investigation into the suspected arson and an autopsy to confirm the cause of death for Anderson is pending, Hall wrote in the press release.
