Local live music this week: singing into the semester

With classes starting this week and students returning to campus, get out and take a break from reading syllabi with these live music opportunities.

Wednesday

Local Bloomington cover band Welcome to the Neighborhood, who primarily play rock music will play at The Bluebird for ages 21 and up. The show will begin at 10 p.m. with tickets costing $12.43.

Thursday

The Orbit Room in Bloomington will host live music starting at 8 p.m. The lineup includes Catalpa, a Bloomington rock ‘n’ roll band, and This Burning Ghost, a musician named Samuel McGuire who mainly plays folk music and collaborates with other bands often. The all-ages event will cost $11.33. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Opal, an IU student band which formed through the Bloomington Delta Music Club on campus, will perform at The Bluebird. The classic rock band will go on at 10 p.m., and tickets for the 21-and-up show cost $12.43.

Friday

Bloomington cover band Jukebox Luke will play at The Bluebird starting at 9 p.m. The 21-and-up show will cost $12.43 to attend. The group mainly plays rock music.

Saturday

The Bloomington jazz ensemble Tortilla Jackson will play at The Orbit Room at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the all-ages show will cost $11.33, with a food or drink purchase required.

IU alumnus and Indiana native Hank Ruff will play at The Bluebird at 9 p.m. Ruff will play some of his original country music for ages 21 and up. Tickets for the show will cost $12.43.
