Indiana football holds one of the top defensive fronts in the nation, and it has been a key reason for the Hoosiers’ 2025 success as the No. 1 seed in this season’s College Football Playoff.
Facing major turnover on the defensive front after the season, Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti and his staff have keyed in on bolstering the unit. The Hoosiers landed former Kansas State University edge rusher Chiddi Obiazor on Monday, according to On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett’s report. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Obiazor is the second Kansas State edge rusher to join the Hoosiers this cycle, after Tobi Osunsanmi committed Sunday. Indiana also added former University of Notre Dame defensive lineman Josh Burnham Sunday. Obiazor is the Hoosiers’ eighth commitment via the transfer portal.
The 6-foot-6, 275-pound Obiazor spent three seasons at Kansas State before leaving for Bloomington. He obtained a redshirt for his true freshman year in 2023. The following season, Obiazor recorded 17 tackles, including 3.5 sacks, earning honorable mention Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honors. Obiazor tallied 28 tackles and two sacks in his final season with the Wildcats.
The Eden Prairie, Minnesota, native was a three-star recruit and the eighth-ranked player from the state coming out of high school. At the time of his commitment to Indiana, Obiazor was the No. 163 overall player, and the 18th-best edge rusher in the 2026 portal class, per 247Sports.
