Following Indiana football’s 27-21 victory over the University of Miami to clinch its first College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday, Bloomington is celebrating the occasion with events throughout the rest of the week.

The CFP National Championship Trophy will be on display in Bloomington on Wednesday and Thursday, Fox 59 reported.

The 24-karat gold-plated trophy will be at the South College Mall Road Kroger from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday. The display will be to the right of the entrance, near the bistro area.

It will then be on display at Walmart on 3313 W. State Road 45 on Thursday, also from 4-7 p.m.

Heisman Trophy-winning redshirt junior quarterback Fernando Mendoza announced a meet and greet on his Instagram. It will take place 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Bloomington.

WTHR reported that Mendoza will sign autographs to customers with wristbands that will be distributed at 9 a.m. outside the store.

One wristband will be given per person, and Mendoza will sign complimentary branded photo cards only.

Indiana football will host a College Football Playoff National Championship celebration from 1-1:30 p.m. Saturday inside Memorial Stadium.

The program announced the event via an email Tuesday night just after the Hoosiers returned to Bloomington.

The parking lots around the stadium open at 10 a.m., while gates open at 11:30 a.m.

The Hoosiers will “Walk to the Rock” at noon. Commemorative championship rally towels will be available for distribution to the Hoosier faithful.

The Indiana Team Store will be open, and limited concessions will be available. The event will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
