Monroe County Community Schools went into lockdown just after 1 p.m. Thursday, according to an MCCSC Facebook post. The lockdown was lifted around 2:35 p.m.

“This afternoon, we were made aware of a non-specific threat to student safety,” the post read. “Out of an abundance of caution, we immediately initiated our school corporation safety plan and placed all buildings on lockdown shortly after 1:00 p.m. as we initiated all safety protocols and procedures in coordination with local authorities.”

A Bloomington Police Department spokesperson said they were aware of the situation, and there was no threat to public safety.

MCCSC did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In the post, the school corporation encouraged students and parents to reach out with concerns using the STOPit website or app, an anonymous reporting platform.
