U.S. Sen. Jim Banks filed a bill on Monday seeking to rename a Bloomington post office after Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti.
If passed, “Curt Cignetti Post Office” will be the official name of the United States Postal Service location at 520 S. Walnut St.
Banks, an Indiana University alumnus and Republican senator representing Indiana, teased the bill on Saturday through a post on X, following Indiana’s 13-10 victory over Ohio State in the Big Ten conference championship game.
Cignetti’s 24-2 record in two seasons is already the ninth most wins as an Indiana head coach, holding the highest winning percentage among all 30 head coaches in program history. Saturday’s conference championship was Indiana’s first in nearly six decades. The Hoosiers also achieved its first perfect regular season on Nov. 28, following a 56-3 victory against Purdue.
“This Big Ten championship team has made Indiana proud,” U.S. Sen. Todd Young said Saturday on X. “Their run will be remembered for years to come.”
Indiana football has clinched the top seed in the 2025-26 College Football Playoffs, and a spot in the Rose Bowl, as announced in the final CFP rankings, released Sunday.
