Holiday Break Kitchen Assistants
Do you have some free time between now and January? Want to make a difference in your community but can’t make a long-term commitment? Then Beacon, Inc., Shalom Community Center needs your help!
The Shalom Center day shelter provides free meals to people experiencing poverty in Bloomington, breakfast for around 60 people every morning and lunch for about 120 every afternoon. This vital, life-saving service is offered every weekday the Shalom Center is open. No experience is needed!
Available shifts:
- 7:30–9:30 a.m. – Help set up breakfast, prep for lunch, and clean up after breakfast service. This shift offers a mix of guest interaction and quieter prep time.
- 9:30–11:30 a.m. – Help with lunch prep during a quieter time. Perfect for those who prefer to work behind the scenes.
- 11:45 a.m.–2:00 p.m. – Be front and center! Help serve meals directly to guests and clean up after lunch service. Great for volunteers who enjoy guest interaction.

Double Dutch Volunteers
The Cry of the Children works to improve the quality of life for adolescents by providing programs and services that promote effective life and decision-making skills. Volunteers are needed to help teach Double Dutch Jump Rope, an ongoing opportunity with an urgent need for support.
