No. 6-seeded Indiana men’s soccer took to Bill Armstrong Stadium on Sunday for a rematch with Saint Louis University after defeating the Billikens early in the season.

This time around, Saint Louis got its revenge, beating Indiana 1-0.

The Hoosiers dominated the opening minutes of the match, producing a couple of key chances. Senior forward Palmer Ault forced the first save from Saint Louis graduate goalkeeper Jeremi Abonnel with a shot inside the 18-yard box, and junior forward Collins Oduro nearly netted a header at the back post.

Only 15 minutes into the match, Indiana had seven shots to Saint Louis’ zero. Yet it was the Billikens who netted the first, and only, goal of the game.

A flicked header reached the Hoosier backline, and redshirt junior defender Breckin Minzey failed to clear the ball away with his attempted header. Saint Louis junior midfielder Tanner Anderson took advantage of the opportunity, letting the ball bounce once before rifling his chance into the bottom left corner of the net.

Momentum faltered temporarily for both teams, but the Hoosiers continued their pressure. Ault managed a shot from inside the box that just trickled past the post, and sophomore defender Josh Maher flicked on a header from a free kick that missed the frame.

At the halftime break, Indiana led 10-2 in shots. But Saint Louis led 1-0 overall, leaving the Hoosiers only 45 minutes to save their season.

Indiana head coach Todd Yeagley made two changes to the starting lineup out of the halftime break, bringing in sophomore forward Easton Bogard and junior midfielder Jacopo Fedrizzi. The changes brought few opportunities, however, and 25 minutes into the second half, the Hoosiers only had three shots — none on target.

Ault nearly created a goal to level the score in the 70th minute. He beat his defender down the line and found Fedrizzi in the box, but the ensuing shot sailed high.

With only six minutes remaining, redshirt freshman defender Nolan Kinsella nearly leveled the match with a head from an Ault corner, yet his chance also went over the bar.

Saint Louis only managed one shot in the second half, but a strong defensive effort kept a clean sheet on the board, securing the 1-0 victory.

Indiana's loss snaps a streak of 10-straight appearances in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The Hoosiers finish the 2025 season with a 12-6-1 record.
