Indiana men’s soccer freshman forward Colton Swan was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Tuesday, per a release by Indiana Athletics.
Swan scored two goals in Indiana’s last match against Rutgers on Nov. 7 at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington. The Hoosiers also recorded a clean sheet in that match, winning 5-0 over the Scarlet Knights.
The Detroit, Michigan, native’s two goals were his second and third of the regular season.
Ultimately, the freshman recorded three assists alongside his three goals during his first regular season in Bloomington.
Swan is the second Hoosier to earn the Big Ten Freshman of the Week award this season. Freshman goalkeeper Judewellin Michel was named the award winner for the week of Oct. 14-21. Michel helped Indiana secure a 2-1 victory over the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky, on Oct. 14 and tallied a clean sheet in Indiana’s 8-0 victory against Hanover College on Oct. 17.
While Indiana won’t be participating in the Big Ten Tournament this week, the Hoosiers await the NCAA Tournament field reveal on Nov. 17. If Indiana finds itself in the NCAA Tournament, it will be the Hoosiers’ 50th tournament appearance in 53 seasons, marking the 39th consecutive year they’ve made the Big Dance.
