Indiana men’s basketball began its season and new era with a pair of dominant wins against Alabama A&M University and Marquette University.

Tucker DeVries asserted himself as the Hoosiers’ leader in his first two contests in the Cream and Crimson. In turn, the redshirt senior forward was named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week on Monday, according to the conference’s release.

DeVries is the first Hoosier to win the award since forward Trayce Jackson-Davis in March 2023. DeVries shared the award with Ohio State senior guard Bruce Thornton, who leads the country in points per game with 32.

Making his Hoosiers debut against the Bulldogs on Nov. 5 inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, DeVries notched a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. He went 7 for 13 from the field and connected on four 3-pointers as the Hoosiers grabbed a 47-point victory.

Then, on Sunday, DeVries turned in a stellar performance against the Golden Eagles at the United Center in Chicago. He led all scorers with 27 points — 24 of those in the first half. The West Virginia University transfer drained six 3-pointers while hauling in five rebounds.

Through two games, DeVries is shooting 57.1% from the field and 58.8% from 3-point range. He’s averaging 22.5 points per contest — good for sixth in the Big Ten and tied for 43rd in Division I.

DeVries and the Hoosiers will return to the hardwood against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at 7 p.m. Wednesday inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington. The contest will be televised on FS1.
