The following is a press release written by Lazarus Sears and Desiree DeMolina for the City of Bloomington.
The City of Bloomington will provide a free weekly curbside leaf collection from Monday, Nov. 3 to Wednesday, Dec. 31 2025. Residents should place bagged leaves at the curb on their regular collection day. Leaves must be in biodegradable paper yard-waste bags. Plastic bags will not be collected.
Free bundles of biodegradable bags are available while supplies last at the Sanitation Division, 3406 S. Walnut St., Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Additional bags can be purchased at most hardware stores. Each household is limited to one free bundle.
Bags must contain leaves only and be set out by 6 a.m. on pickup day. Service may be delayed during severe weather or holidays.
