The following is a press release written by the Gaden KhachoeShing Buddhist Monastery.
Gaden KhachoeShing Buddhist Monastery will host its annual Taste of Tibet & Open House on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the monastery, located at 2150 East Dolan Road, Bloomington, Indiana. This year’s event will serve as a fundraiser for Nepal flood victims, with proceeds from Taste of Tibet going toward relief efforts.
The monastery’s Open House will take place from 2:00–5:00 p.m. Visitors are invited to tour the monastery, learn about Tibetan Buddhist culture and traditions, and meet the resident monks. The Open House provides an opportunity for people of all backgrounds to visit the monastery and learn more about the local Tibetan Buddhist community.
At 6:00 p.m., the monastery will host its popular Taste of Tibet Dinner, featuring an authentic Tibetan buffet prepared by the monks. The menu will include vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes such as momos, pingsha, alu khatsa, traditional Tibetan butter tea, and the monastery’s famous hot sauce.
This year, the event has an especially important purpose. Proceeds from Taste of Tibet will be donated to help people in Nepal affected by recent flooding, including families who have suffered serious losses.
The suggested donation for the dinner is $15 per person.
Everyone is welcome. Families, students, friends, and members of the Bloomington community are encouraged to attend, experience Tibetan food and culture, and come together in support of people in Nepal during this difficult time.
