The IU Student Government preliminary fall election results regarding the congressional housing district seats, the filling of vacant academic seats and the passing of two constitutional amendments were released Tuesday.

There were 782 ballots cast in the election, according to Student Government Adviser Ryan Kelly.

Constitutional Amendment 1 passed with 52.22% of the vote, designating the student body vice president as the tie-breaking vote in Congress rather than the congressional secretary.

Constitutional Amendment 2 passed with a 65.09% majority to allow multicultural clubs to petition for entry for representatives to Congress after the October or April elections. The former policy only allowed multicultural clubs to appoint representatives before the October or April elections.

Traditionally, academic congressional seats are elected in the spring election. This fall, seven of the nine vacancies were filled in a special election to complete the remainder of the term, according to the election ballot.

The off-campus housing district is allotted the most representatives at 11 seats. Eric Cannon, Omeed Mehrzad, Spencer Meyer, Anvi Bhagavatula, Connor Hatch, Joshua Brewer, Krish Patel, Fatime Djour, Spencer Schaberg, Ruth Mayer and Sam Lamba were elected.

The on-campus neighborhoods were allocated two seats each. The central neighborhood elected Jade Linh Nguyen and Olivia Boyd. The northwest neighborhood elected Ellsie Meyer and Tia Tsataros. The southeast neighborhood elected Noah Thompson and Aryan Chander. The on-campus apartment was allocated one seat, with no one running. The Greek and community housing neighborhood was allocated two seats, with no one running.

The graduate and professional schools had no candidates run. The healthcare schools had two vacant seats, and Akhil Nadithe, who ran uncontested, was elected. The Jacobs School of Music was allocated one seat and elected Willem Flaugher. The Kelley School of Business was allocated five seats and elected Michelle Akintomide, Adithya Sharma, Tanishi Desai, Mihir Chowdary Boppana and Piper Johnson.

The results are not final and are subject to change if any complaints of election violations are submitted. The results will be certified by the supreme court and then finalized.
