Ahead of No. 23 Indiana football’s matchup with Kennesaw State University, freshman safety Byron Baldwin Jr. and senior punter Mitch McCarthy were both ruled out, according to the Big Ten availability report.

Baldwin, the Hoosiers’ prized recruit in the 2025 class, missed the season opener against Old Dominion University on Aug. 30 with an undisclosed injury. During his press conference Monday, Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti said Baldwin Jr. was "day-to-day."

Indiana’s safety group is thin Saturday as sixth-year senior Bryson Bonds will miss the rest of the season with a right knee injury he suffered in Week 1, Cignetti announced Monday.

McCarthy, who transferred to Indiana after three seasons at the University of Central Florida, suffered an undisclosed injury against the Monarchs. Cignetti did not provide an update on the Australian on Monday.

Sophomore kicker Quinn Warren, who Cignetti deemed a "really good prospect,” punted in place of McCarthy. He will presumably continue to do so Saturday against Kennesaw State.

Kickoff is slated for noon inside Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. The contest will be televised on FS1.
