Indiana men’s soccer will play their second top 15 opponent of the year, this time facing off against No. 14 Oregon State University, at 8 p.m. Sunday in Bill Armstrong Stadium.

The Cream and Crimson will wrap up their two-game Adidas/IU Credit Union Classic portion of the schedule against the Beavers.

The Hoosiers came from behind in their most recent match, beating the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay 2-1 in a thriller on Thursday.

Indiana remains unbeaten (8-0-2 record) in their last 10 home matches, despite trailing at halftime in each of their first three this season.

Hoosier the Bison makes his Bill Armstrong Stadium debut

Hoosier the Bison is set to make its debut at Bill Armstrong Stadium in the pregame festivities against Oregon State.

Indiana used the bison as its mascot starting in 1965. However, in 1969, only four years later, the mascot was put away.

For the next 50 years, the mascot remained retired. However, Indiana opted to bring back the mascot in 2025 — where it’ll be featured at some point before the match Sunday.

The mascot debuted for Indiana football’s game against Old Dominion University on Saturday, making a dramatic parachuting entrance onto the field pregame.

Heuer, Maher headline latest injury update

In the first game of the year against Clemson University, Indiana suffered two major losses.

Sophomore midfielder Charlie Heuer and sophomore defender Josh Maher left the match early due to injuries and haven’t played in a game since.

Indiana head coach Todd Yeagley said in a press conference Thursday that he hopes both players will be able to suit up Sunday for the Hoosiers.

“We are optimistic that both will be available,” Yeagley said. “Their recovery has been a little slower, and we’ve been more cautious with them. But I do think both could be available for Sunday’s match... it’s kind of a day-by-day thing at this point.”

Heuer looked as if he was on his way to a breakout season after being a contributor down the stretch last year, notably scoring two goals in a late-season affair against Penn State. He scored two goals in the preseason before getting hurt.

For the time being, junior midfielder Jacopo Fedrizzi has filled Heuer’s shoes. Fedrizzi has been a huge spark for the unbeaten Hoosiers, assisting or scoring in all three matches this year and winning Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.

Maher was also expected to see an increase in production this year. But with him out, a series of players from on and off the bench have gotten opportunities — most notably graduate student defender Ben Do and junior defender Victor Akoum, filling the majority of Maher’s minutes in his absence.

Ultimately, both Heuer’s and Maher’s statuses are uncertain ahead of kickoff.

Meet the Beavers

No. 14 Oregon State heads into the match against Indiana with a 2-1-0 record on the year. The Beavers beat the University of California, Santa Barbara and Washington to open their season before falling short, 1-0, to the University of Notre Dame in their last match.

The Beavers went 10-5-3 last season but fell to Gardner-Webb University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

In the face of defeat last year, Oregon State returned key senior midfielder Arnau Farnos.

Farnos was named to the All-WCC First Team last year and was selected to the United Soccer Coaches’ 2025 Midfielders to Watch List before this season.

Another returning face for Oregon State is graduate student midfielder Fabian Straudi. He was named the WCC Offensive Player of the Week, collecting two goals in the first two games for the Beavers.

Redshirt sophomore defender Iker Carbonell Garcia was also named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week, with him recording a nation-leading four assists through the first two matches. Straudi and Carbonell Garcia helped the Beavers sweep the WCC awards of the week.

Sunday’s match is an opportunity for Oregon State to secure a victory over Indiana for the first time ever in program history. The Hoosiers are 2-0 all-time against the Beavers, a mini streak the visitors are looking to snap.

Coverage of the match will be available on Big Ten+.
