Indiana men's soccer junior Jacopo Fedrizzi has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, per a release by IU Athletics.
The Giulia, Italy, native and University of Evansville transfer scored three goals in two matches, both games in which he came off the bench.
Indiana erased two-goal deficits in their first two matches, with Fedrizzi being a catalyst in the come-from-behind efforts.
In the first match, Fedrizzi scored two goals in the second half to push Indiana to a tie with No. 9 Clemson University. He described his game-tying goal in the 87th minute as “exciting” postgame.
Fedrizzi followed a similar script in the next match. He scored two goals for the Hoosiers in a 3-2 victory over the University of San Francisco on Aug. 24.
No other men’s soccer Big Ten student-athlete has matched Fedrizzi’s mark of three goals in two matches thus far.
Fedrizzi looks to maintain his blazing hot start to the year when Indiana hosts the University of Green Bay at 8 p.m. Thursday in Bloomington. Coverage of that match will be available on Big Ten+.
