While the new-look Indiana men’s basketball program is working through its summer workouts, its first-year head coach Darian DeVries is still adding to his first Hoosier squad.
DeVries and the Hoosiers landed Andrej Acimovic on Monday, according to an Indiana Athletics release. Acimovic — the Cream and Crimson’s 13th scholarship player — will join Indiana for the 2025-26 season.
Acimovic is the second international player DeVries has added this offseason, alongside guard Aleksa Ristic, who committed to Indiana on June 16.
"Andrej is a talented big man that we are excited to get in our program and develop," DeVries said in the release. "He has good size and is able to score the basketball in different ways. He is strong on the glass and has good defensive instincts and timing when blocking shots."
The 19-year-old Acimovic hails from Bijeljina, Bosnia. He played for Igokea Mtel Aleksandrovac in the U19 ABA League, averaging 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds across four games while shooting 72.2% from 2-point range and 20% from beyond the arc in the same span.
Acimovic also played in the second Bosnian division, notching 17.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Additionally, he was a member of the U-16 and U-18 Bosnia and Herzegovina national teams.
Indiana’s roster lists Acimovic as 6-foot-11; however, his EuroBasket profile says he is 6-foot-9.
Acimovic is the lone center on the Hoosiers’ roster. Reed Bailey, who transferred in from Davidson College, is listed as a forward despite standing 6-foot-10. University of Florida transfer Sam Alexis is now the third-tallest player on the team at 6-foot-9.
The Hoosiers are slated to take their foreign tour to San Juan, Puerto Rico, from August 5-12. They’ll play three exhibition games — one against the Puerto Rican All-Star team and two against Mega Superbet — during their trip.
Indiana’s first season under DeVries is slated to begin Nov. 5 against Alabama A&M University.
