IU will host a spring undergraduate ceremony without a commencement speaker for the first time since IU began separating undergraduate and graduate ceremonies in 2010.

However, IU students will speak at both the graduate and undergraduate 2025 Spring Commencement ceremonies, which will take place at 3 p.m. May 9 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall and 8 p.m. May 10 at Memorial Stadium respectively.

Mohammad Nasir Moradi, who is earning a Master of Science in secure computing through the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering, will speak at the graduate ceremony. Moradi is from Afghanistan and will speak about his story of overcoming challenges following the emergence of the Taliban regime.

IU alumna Harriet Newman Leve, a decorated Broadway and film producer, will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters during the graduate commencement, where she will also be speaking.

Drew Kimble is earning a Bachelor of Science in information systems and business analytics through the Kelley School of Business. Kimble is from Virginia and will speak about the concept of unreasonable hospitality, which is based on a 2022 book by restaurateur Will Guidara, at the undergraduate ceremony.

Previous undergraduate commencement speakers have included the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins, Tampa Bay Times CEO Paul Tash and Bob Chapek, the former CEO of The Walt Disney Company.
