Party and Caucus News

Congratulations to our new City Council District 5 Councilwoman, Courtney Daily! She took office this past Saturday, March 2nd after a caucus of the District 5 precinct chairs filled the vacancy in that seat.
MCDP thanks all those who stood for caucus, the District Chairperson Adam Dickey, our parliamentarian, vote watchers and tellers, party officers and the precinct committee members who fulfilled their party duties on Saturday.

“As women achieve power, the barriers will fall. As society sees what women can do, as women see what women can do, there will be more women out there doing things, and we’ll all be better off for it.” — Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Vacancy Caucus for Monroe County Democratic Party Vice Chair
Saturday, March 23rd, 10:30am-12:30pm
Monroe County Public Library, rooms 1B and 1C
After careful consideration and in coordination with both the District and State Chairs, the caucus to fill the Vice Chair vacancy will be held on March 23rd from 10:30am - 12:30pm at the Monroe County Public Library in rooms 1B and 1C
While we understand this date falls outside the 30-day mark, State, District, and Local leadership agreed that due to the unusual amount of caucuses our Central Committee has had to participate in, along with budding up against Spring Break, it was in the best interest of all precinct committee members to push after the break ensuring maximum participation. This Vice Chair vacancy is filled by a caucus of the entire committee - Precinct Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons.
In addition to the caucus, we will have a 30 minute presentation from Ryan Still on rural voter engagement. We will be providing bagels, fruit, coffee, and juice as well.
If you're interested in running for the vacant Vice Chair, please reach out to Secretary Pirani at secretary@monroedems.org. The deadline to file to run is Wednesday, March 20th at 10:30am, 72 hours before the caucus.
Candidates announced so far:
Efrat Rosser has declared her intent to stand for Vice Chair.

Thank you to our Four Freedoms Circle donors who contribute monthly to MCDP! In January 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt first spoke of the FOUR FREEDOMS in his state of the Union address. He proposed four fundamental freedoms that people everywhere in the world should enjoy: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom From Want, and Freedom From Fear. Our belief in the Four Freedoms is fundamental to our identity as Democrats. In much the same way, our sustaining donors – those who choose to support the Monroe County Democratic Party through ongoing, monthly gifts – are fundamental to the work we do every single day. When you choose to make monthly gifts through ActBlue, our online giving portal, you provide critical support for the infrastructure, space, and staff on which we rely in all our work.
