Indiana football receiver Kamryn Perry enters transfer portal

Indiana football receiver Kamryn Perry is entering the transfer portal, he announced Thursday via X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Thank you, IU,” Perry said in his social media post. “I wish Coach (Curt) Cignetti and my brothers best of luck this season.”

Perry, who’s entering his redshirt sophomore season, caught three passes for 22 yards last season, all coming against Maryland on Sept. 30. He played in nine games but saw offensive snaps just once after the Hoosiers’ loss to the Terrapins.

The 5-foot-9, 165-pound Perry signed with Indiana as a three-star recruit from Marietta High School in Marietta, Georgia. He played in one game as a true freshman, retaining a year of eligibility.

Perry is the Hoosiers’ second transfer this week, joining defensive lineman Philip Blidi

Indiana began spring practice Thursday, and Cignetti was complimentary of the Hoosiers’ receiving core, which saw seniors Donaven McCulley, E.J. Williams and Ke’Shawn Williams take first-team snaps.

“There is a lot of production, and we want to promote competition,” Cignetti said. “Everything is earned, not given, and no one has a job. That room has a lot of older guys that have made plays in games, and I’m excited about their potential to help us win football games.”

With an influx of transfer receivers and the return of last year’s top two pass catchers in McCulley and E.J. Williams, Perry was expected to be low on the totem pole for targets.

Now, he’s looking for snaps elsewhere — with three years of eligibility still in his back pocket.
