Everbowl Bloomington, an acai bowl restaurant, will open 9 a.m. Oct. 20 at 518 E. Kirkwood Ave.

Everbowl Bloomington co-owner Mike Fowler said he hopes the new restaurant will build a new community for students in Bloomington, as it has at the Noblesville location.

“It just seems to be a great connection point and a really good hub for students and young people to come together, and we have seen a lot of students gather here,” Mike said.

Currently, the Bloomington location has 15 employees, all of whom are IU students, co-owner of Everbowl Bloomington Lori Fowler said.

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 19, Everbowl will give away 300 free bowls to their first 300 customers. After they give away all 300, they will be closing for the night, Lori said.

Lori said Everbowl has a strong focus on healthy food with less artificial and processed ingredients.

“We try to focus on foods that come from nature,” Lori said.

Everbowl offers gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free options, Mike said.

“There’s a lot of great restaurants on Kirkwood, no doubt, I have partaken in many of them, but when you walk up and down Kirkwood you don’t see a lot of non-processed, natural foods,” he said.

They make their bowls using frozen scoopable ingredients, rather than ingredients that go in a blender. Mike said this helps the bowls stay solid for a longer period of time.

“You can take your bowl and walk down the street and sit down in the sun and it’s not going melt,” Mike said.

The classic Everbowl has an acai and granola base with bananas, blueberries and strawberries on top. This bowl costs $8.99, according to Everbowl’s website. The bowls range from $8.99 to $11.99, and customers can add extra ingredients for an additional cost.

Everbowl currently operates in 21 states. Other Indiana locations include Noblesville, Brownsburg and West Lafayette.

Mike said Everbowl will be available via food delivery platforms such as DoorDash. They also hope to get involved with the IU athletics department and other IU organizations through the catering the store offers.
