Indiana women’s basketball head coach Teri Moren was named the 2022-23 women’s basketball Coach of the Year by the Associated Press on Thursday.

Moren, in her ninth season at the helm in Bloomington, coached the team to a 28-4 record — setting a new high-water mark for the program. She also helped lead the Hoosiers to their first regular season Big Ten title in 40 years with a 16-2 conference record and the program’s first ever No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The honor marks the first time an Indiana women’s basketball head coach has been recognized as national coach of the year. Moren was also named the Big Ten Coach of the Year this season — her second such award after she became the first coach in program history to receive the honor in 2015-16.
