Indiana women’s basketball had three members named to national preseason award watch lists for their respective positions this week. Senior guard Sara Scalia, graduate student guard Grace Berger and senior forward Mackenzie Holmes were selected.

Scalia was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale shooting guard of the year watch list. As a transfer from Minnesota, Scalia is coming off a career-best season with 17.9 points per game and 41.3 percent from three starting all 33 games for the Golden Gophers. Scalia was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team by coaches and media last season.

Berger was named to the Cheryl Miller small forward of the year watch list. Berger averaged team-highs for Indiana with 16.2 points per game and 4.7 assists per game starting all 33 games in her 2021-22 campaign. She has earned a plethora of national and conference awards and has been in the top-10 for the Cheryl Miller award in back-to-back seasons.

Holmes was named to the Lisa Leslie center of the year watch list. Holmes was hindered by injuries last season but was still able to post 15.2 points per game and a team-high 7.0 rebounds per game in 25 games. She has earned a fair share of national and conference awards in her three seasons and was in the Lisa Leslie award top-10 last season.
