A man and a woman were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in a house in Monroe County on Oct. 23, according to the H-T.

Margaret Houston, 75, and her boyfriend Jonathan Lore, 69, were found in a house on Woodyard Road northwest of Bloomington. Lore allegedly shot Houston, who died from the gunshot wound. Lore died by suicide from a gunshot wound, according to the H-T.

After investigators looked through the couples’ mail, calendars, phones and medication at the home, they determined that the deaths of Houston and Lore occurred Oct. 11. Both were shot with a .22 caliber revolver.

According to the H-T, a sheriff's deputy found the bodies when going to the couple’s home for a welfare check. An acquaintance of the couple had called the police because they noticed the couple’s mail piling up, and they had not seen Houston or Lore in a while.

The couple were together for about 30 years. Houston was a former book restorer at IU.
