A Bloomington man was arrested Monday night in connection with chasing after and threatening people on Kirkwood Avenue with a knife, Bloomington Police Capt. Ryan Pedigo said.

Police were dispatched to Kirkwood after people reported a man chasing others with a knife. When officers from the IU Police Department attempted to take the suspect, Ty Hendrickson, into custody, Pedigo said, he resisted arrest, pulled away and kicked at them.

Police found a fixed blade knife, with a 3-to-4-inch blade and multicolored handle, on Hendrickson.

A 21-year-old man told police he was walking on Kirkwood with friends when the Hendrickson began following him and started a verbal confrontation. The man said Hendrickson proceeded to approach the man, making overhead stabbing motions.

A 42-year-old man also told police Hendrickson threatened him and made stabbing motions in his face, Pedigo said.

There were no injuries reported in either incident. Hendrickson is being preliminarily charged with intimidation and resisting law enforcement.
