Pinthouse will conduct a summer concert series with performances on June 11 and 24. Bands LYSERGiC and Tree To Stone will perform on June 11. THiN LiNES, LYSERGiC and Mindfully Blind will perform on June 24.

The bands will perform in the backyard of the Pinthouse house venue. In the event of rain, the show will be moved to the garage. Classic rock band LYSERGiC will begin their performance at 7 p.m. and play for about an hour and 40 minutes. Tree To Stone, a trio based in psych, heavy and funk rock genres, will play around 9 p.m.

“We want people to have entertainment and community over the summer in Bloomington,” Trinity Travis, IU grad and Pinthouse resident said. “We knew good people to do it with who were reliable, safe and fun to be around.”

Travis and other former IU students founded Pinthouse in their home. Travis said she’s excited for the summer concerts to feature bands that haven’t played at the house before.

The concert series is the final farewell for Pinthouse, Travis said. She said she will move at the end of July to teach in Spain through a grant program. Two people from Pinthouse will remain in Bloomington.

“We plan to do a lot in July,” Travis said. “As much as I can possibly squeeze in before I have to leave this beautiful place.”

Travis works in marketing and design. She said she learns ways to improve the Pinthouse’s own marketing.

Johnny Bortka, guitarist for LYSERGiC, graduated from IU in 2021 with a degree in tourism, hospitality and event management. He was one of the event planners for Pinthouse’s previous event, Full Bloom Festival, and has plans to make it into a larger festival. He said he wants to make a career out of planning events.

“When you put those two together, we've had a blast getting to flex our IU skills,” Travis said.

Bortka said LYSERGiC plays classic rock, focusing on the ‘60s and ‘70s and covering Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath and Tom Petty, among others. He said the band is learning to play songs that inspire them and plan to eventually perform original music.

LYSERGiC will also play “July” by Noah Cyrus, Bortka said. His sister and bandmate, Mary Bortka, will sing while he plays acoustic guitar.

“We're going all the way from chill acoustic music to heavy metal, and everything in between,” he said.
