Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman will speak at 7 p.m Oct. 5 in Wilkinson Hall.

The six-time Olympic medalist, 2012 and 2016 U.S. women’s Olympic team captain and author of “Fierce: How Competing for Myself Changed Everything,” will be speaking in partnership with Wilson Delta Gamma Lectureship in Values and Ethics.

Raisman played an important role in bringing justice to former USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar, confronting him in 2018 during a court hearing. She recently released a New Lifetime documentary, “From Darkness to Light,” which focuses on the survivors of sexual abuse in the gymnastic community, providing open conversations of the fears and ignorance that allow abuse to continue.

“It was important for me to do this because most survivors aren’t supported the way I was supported,” Raisman told Time Magazine in an interview published on Sept. 26.

Admission to the event is free. Masks are required and there will be free parking for the event.

Guests are encouraged to arrive at 6:30 p.m. to visit with Raisman before the event begins.
