Orangetheory Fitness will open its second Bloomington studio Friday. The new studio is located at 210 E Kirkwood Ave. and will begin hosting group workout classes beginning Friday, director of fitness Jean Sherfick said.

Orangetheory has another studio located at the College Mall which has been open for three and a half years, Sherfick said.

“Orangetheory Bloomington needed to grow,” Sherfick said. “We have a high demand for our awesome workout and we really wanted to go to the heart of the community.”

Orangetheory offers 60 minute group workouts and uses treadmills, water rowers and weightlifting techniques. Sherfick said Orangetheory will also be offering outdoor group workouts on the rooftop of the Graduate Hotel, weather permitting.

“We train the body from the inside out so we're really a holistic model of training,” Sherfick said.

Sherfick said although Orangetheory members are not required to wear masks during their workouts, the studio still enforces social distancing at all times. Members are asked to wear masks while moving in and out of the lobby as well as during rotations inside the studio, she said.

Sherfick said Orangetheory uses UV light ceiling fans to clean the air in the studio as the workouts take place. She said workout stations are spaced out more than six feet apart and that the studio currently operates at half capacity. Orangetheory has had no known COVID-19 transmissions since the College Mall studio reopened June 1 2020, she said.

“Even as protocols are changing in the state of Indiana, we are still keeping our members’ safety at the top of our priority list,” Sherfick said. “Our members must maintain social distancing inside the studio, that's what has been able to keep us open and safe.”

Memberships can be purchased by phone or in person at the studio and current members can sign up for classes through the Orangetheory app or by visiting their website.
