A City of Bloomington Utilities employee who works at the Monroe Water Treatment Plant and a fire department employee tested and received positive results for COVID-19 on Wednesday, according to a Thursday press release.

The case marks 9 positive COVID-19 viral tests in CBU employees since the pandemic began and the fifth fire department employee. These cases raise the total positive-testing city workers to 36.

The utility employee began to experience symptoms Monday and quarantined soon after, according to the release. The employee is currently isolating on paid leave.

The fire department employee last worked Nov. 30. Contact tracing showed no members of the public or co-workers were exposed.

The employee had not been in close contact with co-workers or members of the public and their work station and environment have been disinfected, according to the release. The employee does not interact with the public while working.

An additional city employee tested positive in a COVID-19 antibody test, according to the release.
