Bloomington City Hall, police department employees test positive for COVID-19

A Bloomington City Hall employee and a Bloomington Police Department employee tested positive for COVID-19 on Nov. 27 and Dec. 2 respectively, according to City of Bloomington press releases.

The cases raises the amount of positive COVID-19 cases in city workers to 34 since the start of the pandemic, including recent cases in employees of City of Bloomington Utilities and Bloomington Transit according to city press releases.

The City Hall employee most recently worked in his office on Nov. 24, took a viral test on Nov. 25, began to experience symptoms while out for the holidays on Nov. 26 and received a positive result on Nov. 27, according to the release.

The BPD employee started experiencing symptoms Nov. 30 and was directed to quarantine that day.There were no close contacts identified among co-workers or members of the public, according to the release. This is the seventh BPD employee to test positive for COVID-19. The last positive case in the department was identified Nov. 23.
