A 16-year old from Goshen, Indiana, is in critical condition after being hit by a car in the 300 block of East Brownstone Drive at the Brownstone Terrace Apartments on Sunday morning, Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo said. The pedestrian was conscious when police arrived at the scene but was transported to the hospital.
Pedigo said a maroon vehicle struck the pedestrian while he was laying on the curbside with his legs out in the road. A witness told police the driver was traveling at a high speed and was driving very close to the curb. The driver did not know they had hit the person until a witness approached the vehicle, police said.
The 26-year-old driver of the vehicle submitted to a toxicology screening after the accident. BPD is waiting on the results of the screening.
The pedestrian’s current condition is unknown, police said.
