Suspect attempts to rob man walking dogs in Bryan Park

A man attempted to rob another man who was walking his dogs early Sunday morning at Bryan Park.

Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo said the man came at 3:23 p.m. Sunday to report the incident in the BPD lobby.

Pedigo said the man came home from the bars at 1:30 a.m. with his friends. He took his dogs outside on a walk because they had been cooped up all day.

The man was intoxicated and took his beagle and golden retriever on a walk in Bryan Park. The man and his dogs were out running in a field when the suspect grabbed him from behind and put something in his back causing him to fall down, Pedigo said.

Pedigo said the man let go of the leashes when he fell down and the beagle ran away. He said the suspect told the man to give him his belongings, but he didn’t have anything on him.

The man grew angry because the Golden Retriever was barking at him, Pedigo said. He said the suspect then ran away.

Pedigo said the man found his beagle and returned home with his dogs.
