Here are some events in Bloomington the weekend of Sept. 27

Today is the autumn equinox and officially the first day of fall. Pumpkin spice lattes have already been released and pumpkins are being sold at Kroger. Although it may feel like fall began weeks ago, it starts today. Looking for something to do the first weekend of fall?  Look no further.

Friday Sept. 27

Lotus World Music and Arts Festival: This annual celebration begins on Thursday and runs through Sunday. It includes musicians and artists from around the world, 12 venues and free family events. Ticket prices vary and can be bought online.

How FiveThirtyEight does Political Analysis from the Frontline: This Workshop in Methods will be presented by FiveThirtyEight senior politics editor, Sarah Frostenson. It will be 2 to 4 p.m. in the Social Science Research Commons in Woodburn Hall.

IU Field Hockey vs. University of Michigan: The field hockey team will play University of Michigan at 3 p.m. in Bloomington. The team's record is currently 4-3. This event in free.

Arabic dinner at the Indiana Memorial Union: This authentic Middle Eastern dinner presented by the Arabic Flagship Program will be 6 to 9 p.m. in the Presidents’ Room at the IMU. 

IU Men’s Soccer vs. Sacramento State University: IU men’s soccer will play Sacramento State University at 7:30 p.m. at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Tickets are free for IU students and range from $4 to $7 for the general public.

Women’s Tennis Hoosier Classic: This weekend-long tournament begins Friday. Tickets are free.

By the Bog of Cats: This production, loosely based off of Euripides’ tragedy, Medea, will be presented by the IU Theatre at 7:30 p.m. at the Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center.

The Four Horsemen at the Bluebird: This Metallica tribute band will play at 9 p.m. The show is 21 and up, and more information can be found online.

Saturday Sept. 28

200 Festival at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall: This event will allow attendees to shoot hoops and take photos on the court, watch the football game against Michigan State and jump in a bounce house. This event is 3 to 7 p.m. Tickets are required for the bounce house and can be bought online.

Hoosiers Outrun Cancer: This annual race supports the Bloomington Health Foundation Cancer Support Fund, an organization that provides free help to people affected by cancer in the community. The race begins at 9 a.m. at Memorial Stadium and you can sign up through Sept. 24 online.

Olivia Gatwood at the Bishop: This nationally recognized poet will perform at 8 p.m. The event is open to anyone 18 and up. Tickets can be purchased online.

Tiffany Haddish at the IU Auditorium: This famous comedian will perform as a part of the IU Bicentennial kickoff celebration at 8 p.m. Tickets are available online.

Rumours at the Bluebird: This Fleetwood Mac tribute band will perform at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available online. This is a 21 and up show.

Sunday Sept. 29

IU Field Hockey vs. Ohio State: The field hockey team will play Ohio State at noon at the IU Field Hockey Complex. This event is free.

Working Girls at the IU Cinema: This comedy follows two young Indiana women who move to New York City. The film will begin at 1p.m. Tickets are $4 and are available here.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Walk: This walk will begin at 1 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. Registration is available here.

Clemency at the IU Cinema: This Sundance-award winning film will be shown as a part of the Sundance Filmmakers in Focus series presented by Union Board Films and the IU Cinema. This event will begin at 4 p.m. and is free but ticketed. More information is available here.

Peter Kolkay and Claire-Chung Lim at Auer Hall: Visiting bassoonist Peter Kolkay and professor and pianist Claire-Chung Lim will perform at 6 p.m. This event is free.
