Bicyclist crashes into car at campus intersection

A car was hit by a bicyclist Sunday at the intersection of Seventh Street and North Jordan Avenue.

IU Police Department Capt. Craig Munroe said the 2016 Honda Civic was driving westbound on Seventh Street. The 19-year-old IU student driver waited at the stop sign to let pedestrians cross.

As the driver began to turn, a 20-year-old IU student riding on a yellow bike to the right of the car did not stop at the intersection and hit the car as it was turning.

The bicyclist was wearing a bike helmet. Munroe said the helmet likely prevented the bicyclist from injury in the crash.
