A fishing thief secured one envelope 1:06 a.m. Monday from MutualBank's night deposit drop box at the bank’s 2111 South Liberty Drive location.

Bloomington Police Department Captain Ryan Pedigo said a MutualBank security employee requested police call him around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday after he saw security camera footage of the theft.

Pedigo said footage showed the suspect lower a fish line and fish hook into the night deposit drop box and pull out an envelope. The suspect tried a second time, but the line and hook broke off inside the drop box.

Pedigo said MutualBank has no way of knowing whose deposit was stolen or how much money the envelope contained.

There is no description of the suspect at this time. The investigation is still active.
