One of Bloomington’s most famous and controversial bars lives to serve alcohol another year.

According to the Bloomington Herald-Times, Kilroy’s on Kirkwood’s alcohol license was renewed Wednesday by the Monroe County Alcoholic Beverage Board. The board voted 2-1 to renew the bar’s license for one year instead of the normal two-year period.

Kilroy’s license was last renewed in 2018 for a one-year period after the board heard testimony from the bar’s representatives and citizens who felt the popular Kirkwood spot was a public nuisance. Katharine Liell was the only board member to vote against the license in 2018 and 2019.

The board also approved other alcohol permits, including authorizing Upland Brewing Co. to sell alcohol at Memorial Stadium during home football games, according to Indiana Public Media
