Indianapolis Uber driver accused of assaulting female passenger

A 22-year-old woman told police she was sexually assaulted Sunday by her Uber driver.

Bloomington Police Department Lt. John Kovach said the woman was in downtown Bloomington early Sunday morning and called an Uber to get back to her apartment.

Upon arriving at her residence, Kovach said the Indianapolis driver of a 2015 silver Toyota Camry followed the female passenger to her door.

The woman told police he then went into her apartment and closed the door behind him. She asked the driver to leave, but he pinned her against the door. The driver began to try to kiss her and grope her outside of her clothing, Kovach said.

The woman told police she told him to leave again, and he did. She then locked the door behind him after he left the apartment, Kovach said.

The investigation is currently active.
