Reading by local poet Andrew Hubbard to take place at The Venue

Local poet Andrew Hubbard will be present for a poetry reading and book signing at 5:30 p.m. March 26 at The Venue Fine Art and Gifts .

Hubbard lives in Brown County, Indiana, pursuing poetry. He will read selections from his upcoming poetry book, “Hit a Snag,” according to a press release.

The Venue is located in Bloomington at 114 South Grant St.

“Andy Hubbard has quickly become a major contributor to Bloomington’s robust poetry community,” the press release reads. “Join us to see why.”

Hubbard’s previous works include his books “Things That Get You,” “The Divining Rod” and “Meeting the Moon Halfway.”

After growing up in a coastal fishing village in Maine and receiving an English degree from Dartmouth College, Hubbard went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from Columbia University. He worked in corporate training for years before pursuing poetry full-time and has spoken and authored books about his corporate training work.

“A man of many interests, he is a former martial artist and competitive weight-lifter, a casual student of cooking and wine, a gemologist, a collector of edged weapons, a licensed handgun instructor and an avid outdoor photographer,” according to the press release.
