A small fire damaged the Member Services Building on Wednesday morning at the Sembower Recreational Sports Field Complex near Foster Quad, according to a press release.
The Bloomington Fire Department’s preliminary report found a faulty part of the lights in the building created a spark which caught some paint on fire, IU spokesperson Tracy James said.
The fields are used for intramural and club sports such as flag football and ultimate frisbee, according to the release. The Member Services Building contains equipment checkout and restrooms.
The fields themselves were not damaged. Recreational sports staff will set up a Member Services hub so club and intramural sports can continue Monday.
IU’s Office of Insurance, Loss Control & Claims is further investigating the fire.
