Bloomington man arrested for alleged sexual assault of 14-year-old

A 39-year-old Bloomington man was arrested Tuesday for the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.

Police said the girl called the Bloomington Police Department on Monday to report her mother’s boyfriend, Bennie Brantley Jr., touched her inappropriately while the two were alone at home.

BPD Sgt. Dana Cole said the girl told detectives one incident happened when she and Brantley were watching a movie in his bedroom.

She said Brantley asked to massage her feet. He then massaged her back and started touching her buttocks, police said. She also reported he put his hand down her shorts.

She reported a separate incident happening while her mother was at work. Both incidents allegedly happened during the fall.

Brantley told police he did massage the girl and said he may have accidentally touched her bra or private area while doing so.

He was booked into jail Tuesday on the preliminary charge of sexual misconduct with a minor.
