Bloomington 17-year-old reports rape

A 17-year-old Bloomington girl told police Saturday she was raped sometime last week.

The girl’s mother told officers her daughter ran away Thursday, and she found her Saturday at the Lotus Festival.

The girl's family convinced her to return home. After being confronted about running away, the girl told her mother she was raped in the days she was away from home by a white male in his 30s with facial hair.

She told police she only knew the man by his first name and said the two met on the B-Line Trail.

Bloomington Police Department Capt. Steve Kellams said the girl changed details of her story multiple times.

The girl had a rape kit done Saturday, and police are awaiting results. She will be interviewed by a child sexual assault specialist Monday.
