Police arrested a Bloomington man early Saturday morning after he allegedly vandalized Juannita’s Restaurant and spit on an officer.

Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Robert Skelton said Michael Cole, 25, was yelling at random people when he ran into police on West Kirkwood Avenue.

Skelton said officers initially advised Cole of disorderly conduct and sent him on his way, but he continued causing a scene.

Cole was, according to police reports, angry with Juannita’s Restaurant for an unknown reason and yelling about it.

Skelton said Cole was an employee of the restaurant at the time of his arrest.

When officers tried to arrest him further down Kirkwood Avenue, Cole resisted and ultimately spit on one of the cops.

An officer responding to a vandalism call shortly thereafter at Juannita’s made the connection between the incidents.

“We just put two and two together,” Skelton said.

Management at Juannita’s told police Cole destroyed new plants and flower beds in front of the restaurant, but they weren’t sure why he was unhappy with the business.
