Police arrived at a house in the 1300 block of South Park Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Sunday to find smoke and flames billowing from the house’s southern side.
Officers said the house’s two residents were outside, and the 28- and 29-year-old both appeared heavily intoxicated.
Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Dana Cole said the two men were unable to explain what happened, but it appears they were cooking something when the fire started in the kitchen.
The Bloomington Fire Department is investigating the incident.
