Police arrest man who fled after Monday robbery

Police caught Joshua Douthitt early Tuesday morning after he allegedly eluded them following a Monday afternoon robbery.

Douthitt, 24, was one of two men alleged to have robbed an acquaintance’s house Monday, taking the man’s wallet and phone and punching him in the face.

Bloomington Police Department officers pulled over a car matching the description of the car the suspects left in and two men jumped out of the passenger side, running from the officers.

Officers caught 26-year-old Jeremy Simon as he ran from the vehicle, but Douthitt escaped.

The Elletsville Police Department responded to a 911 text early Tuesday alerting them to Douthitt’s location.

Officers went to the Lindsey Hayes Trailer Court and picked Douthitt up, taking him to BPD for an interview.

Police said Douthitt would not answer their questions but maintained he was not the one who robbed the house.

He was charged with robbery, battery and resisting law enforcement.
