It didn't take long for junior Katherine Receveur to build off of her All-American cross-country season from last year.

In her first meet of the 2017 season at the Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown, Massachusetts last Friday, Receveur finished second overall with a time of 17:03 as she edged out Paige Stoner of Syracuse by one second.

This week, she was rewarded for her efforts in Boston by being named the Big Ten women’s cross-country athlete of the week.

The Louisville, Kentucky, native built up an impressive résumé in last year’s cross-country campaign. She earned All-Conference honors after finishing second at the Big Ten Championships and was the only individual on last year’s women’s team to qualify the NCAA Championships. She earned All-American status by finishing 11th at the national meet.

Receveur will compete in her second race of the year at this Saturday’s Sam Bell Invitational in Bloomington at the IU Championship Cross-Country Course.
