The IU women’s swimming and diving team continued its successful run at the NCAA Championships Thursday night.
Junior Kennedy Goss highlighted the night with a third place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. Goss’ time of 4:36.13 was the fifth-fastest time in IU history as she earned best finish for a Hoosier in the event since 1980.
The 400-yard medley relay team of senior Gia Dalesandro, junior Holly Spears, sophomore Lilly King and Goss finished in fifth with a school record time of 3:28.58. King’s 100-yard breaststroke split of 56.17 was the fastest in NCAA history.
Junior Jessica Parratto began her championships in the 1-meter springboard dive consolation final and finished second in the group and 10th overall.
Goss, Dalesandro, Spears, King, Parratto and junior Ali Rockett, who swam in the prelims of the 400-medley relay, were all honored as All-Americans for their performances on the day.
Competition begins again Friday morning at 10 a.m.
