A crash Monday on State Road 37 that injured two people and left a car pinned under a semi-truck trailer happened after the truck driver pulled an illegal U-turn.
The truck was headed west across SR37 from Winery Road when it made the illegal U-turn to move east back across SR37, according to a Tuesday press release from Indiana State Police. The turn put it in the way of a Chevrolet headed south on the state road.
The driver of the car, a 41-year-old Bedford man, tried to avoid the truck but could not. The truck kept moving eastbound after the car hit it and caused the car to roll over and become trapped under the truck.
The Chevrolet driver suffered head and back injuries, and his passenger, a 37-year-old Bedford woman, suffered head injuries. Both were taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital. The 61-year-old truck driver was not injured.
