Anunoby out indefinitely for knee injury

IU sophomore forward OG Anunoby has been ruled out indefinitely after sustaining a knee injury Wednesday night.

IU basketball released a statement on Twitter Thursday night from IU Coach Tom Crean regarding Anunoby’s status.

“OG sustained a knee injury this past Wednesday night’s game against Penn State and is in the midst of ongoing medical evaluations,” Crean said in the release. “He will be out indefinitely. On behalf of OG and our entire program, we thank you for all of the support and well wishes that have been sent his way.”

Anunoby went down after attempting to go up for a rebound with fewer than 10 seconds left in the first half against the Nittany Lions. He stayed on the floor as the team went to the locker room at halftime. Anunoby was eventually helped off the court by fellow sophomore forward Juwan Morgan and strength coach Lyonel Anderson and did not return to the game.

Anunoby was averaging 11.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 25 minutes through the first 16 games this season.
